    • where they were met by the Macarther agents who arranged temporary accommodation in the woolsheds near Sydney Cove for a few days while basic requirements were assembled, formalities completed, leases signed and notarised and transport organised. The group left Sydney Town on 19 June 1853 for the four day walk to Camden. Bullock-drawn drays transported the Macarther agents, children and goods but most of the group had to walk for four wet and miserable days in the middle of winter.

The day of their arrival at Cobbitty turned out to be brilliant sunshine and they moved in with pre-arranged established families until slab houses could be built on their selections. Over the next couple of months, both neighbours and workers from the Macarther estate helped in building and settling in of the new families

    • Death of Mrs Charles Loiterton
It is our sorrowful duty in this issue to record the death of Mrs Charles Loiterton, which sad event took place on Monday evening last, at her daughter's (Mrs J J Campbell's) residence, in the 85th year of her age. During the past week the deceased had been noticably improving in health and appetite, but when the last hour drew nigh for her to depart from this world, she lay calm and still, until her spirit passed peacefully away in the presence of her two daughters, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Bensley. The merest intimation of the approaching dissolution was given only half-an-hour before actual death. In her case the heart had ceased to work through age. Mrs Loiterton never liked to be alone, nor even for Mrs Campbell to be away from her for ever so short a time. She enjoyed the conversation of her friends very much, especially the Rev. J Penman's quiet little chat, and to which she often alluded during her last few days here.
The deceased was born in Lincolnshire (Eng.) on the 17th May 1810, and was married in 1838. She, with her husband and family of 5, left England together for Australia, landing in Sydney on June 16, 1852. They went straight to Camden, and after a few years removed to Bowral. After residing here for a short time, she moved to Cootamundra, where she stayed until her husband's death, which took place on August 2, 1882. Mrs Loiterton again moved back to Bowral to her daughter's, (Mrs Campbell's) residence, where she has remained ever since, excepting a couple of short absences to Cootamundra, where her sons live. About 5 1/2 years ago Mrs Loiterton took her last trip to Cootamundra, and since then she has scarcely been out of the house through age. She was not a great sufferer, but latterly became very helpless physically. Up to last she maintained her faculties. Her descendants, we believe, number 5 children, 27 grand children, and 20 great grand-children.
The funeral will start this afternoon at 3 o'clock, for the Wesleyan cemetery at Burradoo
